Increase the impact of research data

Improvements in instrument and simulation resolution are generating mushrooming volumes of research data. While today's high-capacity storage systems can accommodate the bounty produced, they can't identify what is valuable or facilitate data movement and processing workflows, ensure secure data sharing among geographically dispersed collaborators, or verify authenticity. Without safeguards to cost effectively curate and maintain continued access, important scientific data becomes lost forever.

The Mediaflux Research Data Management platform makes it easy to get a complete view of all disparate data available and expose the right information at the right time, to support effective research data management. Mediaflux ensures research data can be made Findable, Accessible, Interoperable and Re-usable (FAIR), supporting publicly funded Open Science research data availability requirements. Mediaflux can also protect against unauthorised data access to protect subject privacy and intellectual property rights.

Customisation, compliance, collaboration and commercialisation with the Mediaflux research data management platform

For researchers, Mediaflux operates beneath the surface to transparently support and simplify their work, using their own familiar tools, so they can focus on science not data management.

Customise

Configure the platform to solve different use cases or a bespoke solution can be created to meet unique business systems and infrastructure.

Compliance

Effectively manage how data will be collected, formatted, described, stored and shared throughout, and beyond, the project lifecycle.

Collaborate

Access 'open innovation' with companies, investors and researchers on a single transparent platform.

Commercialise

Translate research into commercial success more quickly, easily, and profitably by reducing study timelines and costs.

Research Data Management: Futureproofing White Paper

The intrinsic value of data is the cornerstone of research organisations, therefore data management techniques to preserve and optimise the return on investment in data must continuously evolve to keep pace with its rapid proliferation. Research data must be managed in ways that are sufficiently flexible to support the wide spectrum of research activities and facilitate new insights while pre-empting security threats and minimising costs. This document outlines the key considerations of research data management from multiple stakeholder perspectives and presents solutions designed to futureproof institutions’ most invaluable asset.

Mediaflux is trusted by:

"Mediaflux is the solution we have spent years hunting for. Our data is sprawling, and Mediaflux is finally going to allow us to get it under control. With this solution we'll be able explore extensive, extensible workflow automations and provide intelligence to our data in a way we have never been able to before."

- Michael Scarpelli, Senior Director, Information Technology, La Jolla Institute for Immunology

The University of Melbourne

The University of Melbourne uses Mediaflux to visualise their research storage allowing them to vastly increase the amount of data they can acquire from instruments and research data, and to manage the storage in a more flexible and scalable manner. Storage is disk (NetApp and CEPH cluster). Learn more about how the University of Melbourne manages digital assets on Mediaflux here.

The University of New South Wales

The UNSW Data Archive is an institution-wide long-term storage platform for research data build on Mediaflux. The platform allows researchers to securely search and share data with colleagues, and comply with research data policies and codes of practice. The advanced metadata management capabilities of Mediaflux makes searches easier and more effective, and enable re-use of valuable datasets.

Pawsey Supercomputing Centre

Pawsey hosts the fastest public research supercomputer in Australia (>1 PF) and manage multiple collections / projects with more than 100 million assets and 6+ PB of data on multiple heterogeneous storage systems with Mediaflux. Read about one of the projects here.
