Overview

There has been an enormous increase in the quantity of data to be acquired, processed, stored and accessed — Imagery and Geospatial Information (IGI), video are part of this big data revolution that covers various spatial, spectral, temporal and radiometric resolutions and photomaps.

To make the best possible national security and Defence decisions, every possible source of information should be available. Mediaflux performs this task seamlessly no matter what the format or the locality of the data.

Mediaflux reduces the end-to-end time for information & intelligence acquisition, analysis, decision-making and effective response, in one seamless system.

Mediaflux provides agencies with streamlined and scalable processes to ingest immense geospatial data capable of moving 100s of TB per hour or more; to analyse information about features on the ground, and their relationships to the world and to each other. The technology provides a flexible solution for immediate access to the catalogue of data to answer questions such as "what data do we hold that relates to a particular locality?", "what type of data is this?", and near immediate access to the data itself.

The web operating system, Mediaflux Desktop, displays data spatially using its own reference maps (or external sources such as Google Maps and ESRI web mapping services).

Mediaflux, integrated in the field with the most common intelligence data analytical tools, (Hexagon Luciad Lightspeed, BAE GXP, Systematic SitaWare and ESRI to name a few), is used to enhance military capability and effectiveness for: geospatial data exploitation for C4ISR; mission planning; common operational picture (COP); tactical to strategic level planning; aggregating, analysing and visualising to find patterns in disparate sets of data.

Mediaflux Capability

Rules-driven ingest of many defence and commercial imagery formats and industry metadata standards, including ISO 19115, Digital-Globe, AirBus, Planet and many others
Powerful enterprise disparate data management capabilities, including vendor-agnostic storage pooling, metadata-driven policies and data migration events
MotionINT lifecycle management including extensive support for MISB telemetry, mission replication and context-driven data retention policies. Full support for generic time-series track datasets
Maintains object data in a secure, version-controlled, flexible virtual file system
Implement workflow processes including API triggered, network-driven, event-based or scheduled actions
Search and curation through an open API which can be accessed by any scripting or programming language
Data discovery and accessibility through multiple open industry standards like OGC CSW & WFS, OpenSearch and OAI PMH
Smart rules-driven data export and dissemination capabilities with support for dynamic meta-data translation

Mediaflux is trusted by:

The Australian Department of Defence

Arcitecta is a strategic partner for the Australian Department of Defence. For the past decade Mediaflux has been at the core of IGI. Mediaflux has been adopted to manage Defence data holdings, and allow the creation of advanced data management workflows with automated quality assurance, analytical processing and reporting for both in-house system and systems in the field. Mediaflux enables the export of data into a variety of specified metadata profiles and provides the ability to create customised metadata export profiles.

DigitalGlobe

Mediaflux manages a 40+PB archive for satellite imagery spanning on premise disk (Isilon, commodity disk) and cloud (Amazon S3, Amazon Glacier). The initial Mediaflux implementation was entirely on-premise, virtualising a mix of disk and tape. Arcitecta worked with DigitalGlobe and Amazon to morph the system to extend the virtualisation to the Amazon cloud, enabling Digital Globe to optimise their storage costs. Around 100 million files. Using a clustered Mediaflux configuration with 13 cluster nodes. Clocked moving 65TB an hour.
